Prize winners of the Ethiopia Learning Alliance awarded
On the 17th of February, all 18 clusters (on teff, honey, wheat, maize, gum etc.) that participated in the APF Ethiopia Learning Alliance (APELA) presented their business plans. In a joyful award ceremony the leaders of farmers’ organisations that won the business contest were awarded. Piet Visser, local APELA coordinator from SNV Ethiopia, commented: ‘The final workshop was good in the sense that actual stories of changes within the clusters have been documented. SNV will use these cases as learning inputs for the Productive Safety Net Programme Plus, in which several organisations are providing evidence for graduating producers out of the safety net system with asset building and linking to markets’.

Agri-ProFocus' response to the WRR report

Book offer for APF members: Value Chain Finance
'Value chain finance: Beyond microfinance for rural entrepeneurs' will be published in March 2010 by the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) and the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR). KIT Publishers offers members of Agri-Profocus the opportunity to pre-order all volumes in the book series on value chains with a considerable discount.

Trainings in Value Chain Development
HPC, in cooperation with MDF and TriodosFacet, organises three interesting courses in the Netherlands on value chain analysis, January 2010: Value chain concepts (11-15 Jan), value chain facilitation (20-22 Jan) and value chain finance (25-27 Jan).
