Agri-ProFocus is developing action-oriented programmes, starting in seven African countries to promote farmer entrepreneurship. These programmes combine existing support of Agri-ProFocus members with jointly identified needs and bottlenecks of farmers and their organisations.

This country focus is an innovative way to support the strategic choices of Agri-ProFocus:

• Focus on farmer entrepreneurship.
• Enhancing capacity of producer organisations and strengthening of enabling environment.
• Thematic emphasis on value chain development, access to financial services and sustainable food production.
• Respect for gender balance.
• Linking with learning and innovation.
• Embedding within national priority setting processes.

Five Agri-ProFocus members (Cordaid, HIVOS, ICCO, Oxfam Novib and SNV) have taken a leading role in setting up these programmes in seven pilot countries.

The Agri-ProFocus support office acts as overall process facilitator, responsible for facilitating the participation of partnership members, organising meetings, accompanying agreements, coaching, monitoring and overall communication.
